Founded in 1973 by the Groumoutis family, A & G Pizza Steakhouse and Lounge had been serving Creston area residents for 43 years.  In July of 2016 the business was purchased by Jake and Britni Kawa, native Creston residents, and became A&G Restaurant and Lounge assuring the A&G tradition would remain in the Creston community.

After graduating from college in Iowa City, the Kawa’s decided to return to start their family (daughters Bradley 3 and Breckyn 6) and pride themselves on customer service, great food, and an atmosphere enjoyed by families, friends on a night out, business people and travelers.

Situated downtown across the street from the historic Creston Train station, A&G is a short drive from Interstate 80 as well and Des Moines and several other communities. Featuring their trademark pizza as well as aged steaks, The Kawa’s have started their own traditions including their legendary Moscow Mules with multiple unique flavors and toppings including Key Lime Pie, Cotton Candy, and Strawberry Mojito. They are also the only place to find little and big kid favorite Dippin’ Dots™. The lounge also boasts local Iowa craft beer selections and customers can relax with a game of pool or darts or watch a game on one of their seven televisions.

Known as a comfortable place for gatherings, A&G can host parties from 20 to 150 in their party room. As active members of the local community, the Kawa’s support Party in the Park each summer to help raise funds for improvements to McKinley Park. They also host their own Mommies and Mules event twice each year where local vendors transform the game and party rooms into a market place where mom can shop for gifts while enjoying one of the 16 flavors of Mules.
